Made me think of that song. Skylark. It’s by Johnny Mercer and Ella Fitzgerald does a particularly nice version. (But it’s Ella Fitzgerald, so really that’s redundant.)

Although his feet are firmly planted on the ground, the light almost makes Bruce look like he’s floating. Such a lovely dog, and your photos make what I consider to be an overly cold part of the world always look very inviting!

Oh wait, maybe that isn’t a steek at all? Well, I’d never heard of steeking before reading here. Can’t wait to see the finished garment. And I’ll enjoy the mystery and suspense till then.

Spring in Edinburgh at last :-) It was cold as winter on Saturday, but lovely on Sunday. I love the yellows of gorse and broom. Last year we were in Cromarty area in May, and I thought it should be called the yellow isle instead of the Black Isle.

Bruce must be the happiest dog ever. He deserves to be immortalized in stitch marker form. And loved reading the comment connecting whin to Scotch Broom. I remember it so well from this time of year growing up in the North American Pacific northwest.

I love Bruce posts and the tiny Bruce stitch markers are adorable. I’d wear one of those on a chain around my neck, too! Or turn him into a little brooch by putting him on a kilt pin.

Because of you and this wonderful blog, I can now recognize a steek in progress. Maybe one day I’ll work up the courage to try it myself. Cheers!

Bruuuuuce! And Tom! And sunshine. And Bruce-themed accessories.

As is often the case, your post was instructive as well aesthetically pleasing. Scotch Broom is blooming everywhere here in our corner of the world, and I thought your photograph looked like that, so I looked up the meaning of “whin”, and found that it was “gorse.” When I searched further, I found a site that told me, “Gorse resembles Scotch Broom.” And now I am full of pleasant images and new information!

Our whin was fragrant today, sometimes the warmth and the breeze makes it smell like coconut -lovely! It looks like you all enjoyed a lovely walk.
Those stitch markers are too cute, but not as cute as Bruce!

Yes we call it “gorse” in Australia too, and it is a weed! I always have to do a mental adjustment when I see plants like this in their natural setting, and remind myself that it isn’t something that should be ripped out!! Lovely pictures!

I got a set of golden retriever stitch markers from a talented Etsy seller, so anybody looking for ones to commemorate their own dog breed can probably find them there. The Bruce one is SO adorable, as is Bruce, of course! And you live in such a beautiful location — thank you for sharing these gorgeous photos. And for educating me to a new word for me, “whin”!

I need some of those! Oreo is a black lab also. He is a fan of Bruce’s, but doesn’t understand why he isn’t a star like Bruce is! :) I do have two cats that absolutely love Oreo, and I bet they would fall for Bruce in a second. Those stitch markers are so cute, can’t wait to see the whole set!

I love the first picture in this post partly because of your beautiful happy dog, but partly because I think I can see the location of some of your design photo shoots- in context! You are lucky to live in such a beautiful place. X
