Since Friday, we have been very busy packing and dispatching yarn parcels for the Seven Skeins club.
We are working hard, but oftentimes I find myself stopping just to admire and squoosh the lovely wool.
The seven shades compete for my affections. At the moment I think my favourite is Haar – the silvery-grey natural fleece shade, inspired by cold sea mists.
This weekend we’ve packed the majority of the airmail (we’re holding off sending Ireland, because of a postal strike). This was the scene when we finished last night.
Now Tom is just heading off to the sorting office – the first of many trips today!
Bruce was very excited to see that some parcels in this van-load were going to Labrador.
So if you are a club member, a parcel of yarn will be heading your way!
We hope you are as batty about Buachaille as we are!
Love Kate, Tom, Mel, Gordon, Ivor and Bruce xx
I have received my seven skeins – so I´m happy – happy – happy. They are lovely. Thanks!

What a wonderful collection of Seven Skeins 2015! Just read the dispatch story this morning 10/10 and the package arrived this afternoon. A pleasant surprise for me in Ohio, USA. Am just beginning to study and practice Fair Isle knitting, this yarn will be treasured, & look forward to the patterns coming next. Thank you for the yarn and all your diligent work.

A wonderful good-morning,
may I announce the happy and sound birth of 7 children named Buachaille (is there some French in it?? please see the picture in the attachment i made this morning). The “kids” smell wonderfully sheepish, are soft in a pleasant way (not slippery soft which feels sometimes…puh, awkward and artificial), and they do have those clear-sight colours reminding me of their heritage.
Many, many thanks from the new foster Mommy who is keenly awaiting the clothing process by next week.
Wishing you, your family and mates a weekend full of rest, relax, good weather!! Best wishes, Sandy

I am so looking forward to receiving this package and the patterns. Someone said that it is like Christmas–I think that it is even better than Christmas! I’m sure that it will bring my knitting mojo back–don’t know where it has gone, but a difficult cardigan on tiny needles had something to do with it. All the colors look wonderful together in your photos. I must get over to Revelry to join Kate’s group :)

It is nice to know that you have many hands to share this mighty task…but all are smiling so it a task with Fun and Laughter I’ll bet! Thanks to all the Good Hands, Mel, Gordon and Ivor and of course, Kate and Tom, who had the good sense to come up with the idea of Home Grown Scottish Wool or the Treasure “Buachaille” as some know it and last but not least, The Mighty Black Bruce, the Guard and Protector of all..give Kate that face, you know the one, with the eyes, that’s right!,…she won’t be able to resist a few extra tatties for you!!!
Thanks for including us and showing us the Beauty of Scotland!

I appreciate your description of the creation of this beautiful yarn, Kate. Your story inspired a trip to the only remaining mill in Western Canada which processes Canadian yarn. Custom Woolen Mills is located near Carstairs, Alberta. Thanks to you, I was able to identify some of the processes I was seeing in operation and found them to be fascinating.

This is what a production line should look like; relaxed but busy and British. Am I allowed to say that? Anyway, I am going about my day as normal but inside thrilled that these hanks of happiness are on their way to me.
