Hi folks,
Sam here.
As Kate mentioned the other day, access to the internet is somewhat sketchy at the moment up in the hills.
I thought it would be a shame to break the chain of daily blogs.
Let Jane and I take you on a rather different walk than you will be used to seeing on the KDD blog.
Of course, at the moment, we can’t travel to the coastal or mountainous places we usually would for our walks.
Jane has taken to pounding the streets around our home, between Paisley and Renfrew.
It’s a suburban area. On the edge of industrial.
It’s a shame we’re locked away from the hills. They are so tantalisingly close.
The setting sun kisses the uppermost blossom.
If we time it just right the streets are deserted and the motorway is silent.
Nature is powerful when we rest our heavy machines.
Jane has found solace in the repetition and movement of walking. Often she’ll walk this route alone.
Although, it seems she has been making friends with another local ginger.
Thanks, Sam and Jane, for sharing your lovely walk, and the beautifully captured sights of the day. I like being able to imagine you all in your places, covering your home ground and absorbing sight and sound along the way. It’s a nice reference to keep in mind as I stay in my place, covering my home ground.

Thank you for reminding us that we can enjoy walking wherever we are, that there is interest and beauty wherever we look, and that just the rythmic movement of walking is a glorious feeling.

I’m from the US. What are those lovely trees that shed so many mini blooms?

They are Cherry Blossom- the white ones are apple blossom. When the blooms fall, usually all at the same time in a strong gust of wind- it’s like snowing in Spring. Gorgeous

Thank you, Sam and Jane, for sharing your walk. Lovely. No, not the same as the hills or coast, but walking is so important right now no matter where you are. And the blossoms are so beautiful, I can almost smell them! Gives hope to those of us who are not as far along into spring.

Yes, Adele. The hills will wait. We are very grateful for the peaceful outdoor space we do have.

Another Ginger, made me smile. ‘They’ are out there watching us. Nice walk regardless of where.

Hi Sam and Jane, thank you for taking us with you on your walk!
The picture of the fox is so perfect. The way it ‘poses‘ and is captured. It almost seems painted into the suburban surroundings as if it had just escaped from a fairytale book 🦊 🙂

These local scenes have their own beauty. We noticed pavements coated in pink blossom too, on our afternoon walk near Stockbridge, Edinburgh.
I love the way that foxes have of stopping, staring, then unhurriedly going on their way.

I think it’s a pity the blossom won’t hang around as long as the foxes.
