congratulations, Megan and Nathan!

We’ve had some beautiful, golden September weather here recently, and have been making the most of it for our 10 Years in the Making photoshoots. Due to local Covid restrictions, these shoots involve just Tom and myself, but this also means we can get up and start taking photos at first light, when there’s often a lovely rising mist behind our house, over Carbeth Loch.

We were out engaged on such an enterprise the other morning, when we were joined by a couple who were out for a run and (brr) a swim (it being the coldest September morning since 1997).

Tom turned the camera on the hardy pair as they braved the chilly waters, and we both cheered them on as they set out to join the swans of Carbeth Loch.

We had a wee chat afterwards, and found out that Megan and Nathan were visiting from down south, and that it was Nathan’s birthday that day. Having glanced at Tom’s photos on the back of the camera, I suggested they get in touch with us (when they’d warmed up) so we could send them a wee memento.

When Megan emailed me the following day, it was to say that, shortly after their cold dip, Nathan had asked her to marry him, and that the two of them were now engaged!

Tom and I feel very honoured to have shared (in a rather odd way, from the lochside) in this lovely moment and to be able to send Megan and Nathan copies of what I think are the most ludicrously romantic engagement photos ever . With Megan’s permission, I’m now sharing them with you as well.

So, many congratulations, Megan and Nathan! Come and see us in Carbeth if you are ever in this part of Scotland again and we wish you all the very best for the future.
