In case you missed it, I thought I should post to let you know that there are just 10 days to go to sign up for our Allover Club. What? You’ve not heard about the Allover Club? Well, here’s all you need to know.
What is this club about?
This club is all about celebrating colour in our knitting. There will be weekly colourwork design releases, essays exploring colour in history, textiles and art, and blog posts from talented guest contributors well-known for their distinctive work. You’ll also gain an insider’s view of the creative process of working with colour, as we share charts, templates, palettes, and technical tips to help you create your own colourwork designs (or modify existing patterns).

What do I get as a club member?
Twelve exclusive colourwork pattern releases (plus secret bonuses!)
Weekly essays
Weekly posts from guest contributors
Exclusive club newsletter
The beautiful Allover book (shipped to you, wherever in the world you are), together with a digital version to knit from. There’s a digital only-option, if preferred.
10% discount off all products in the KDD shop for the duration of the club
A lively KAL (with prizes), a new writing competition, club chat and colourful camaraderie!
Sign up window
Sign ups open in the KDD shop on Sunday October 7th and close on Monday October 24th 9am (BST). The club will not be open to new subscriptions after this time.

What happens when?
Pattern releases are on Mondays:
The first pattern will be released on October 31st. The club will break for the festive season and, after recommencing in the new year, conclude around the middle of February.
What kind of patterns are included?
All of the patterns in this club feature the fairisle / stranded colourwork technique. There are some very simple patterns, some that are more advanced, and some that involve small areas of plain knitting. Throughout, the emphasis is definitely on the colourful, with alternate yarn palettes and different charts to choose from when knitting the patterns. The club designs are balanced equally between accessories and garments. During the club’s first few weeks (leading up to the festive season), we will be focusing on accessories (which may be knitted as gifts, if you wish), with a greater emphasis on garment design during the club’s later weeks. All pattern samples have been knitted in KDDs own yarns (Milarrochy Tweed, Schiehallion, and Ooskit) but will work well with a wide range of 4 ply / fingering weight and DK / sportweight yarns. All the patterns, plus club exclusive bonus releases, additional charts and colourways, will be included in the Allover book, which will be shipped out to members at the club’s conclusion.
What else is included?
Throughout the club we will be sharing different kinds of information and resources about colour. Some resources (including charts, templates and palettes) will be delivered via the club newsletter while other kinds of information (e.g. guest posts written by our colour experts) will be posted on the KDD blog. Kate has also written a series of essays exploring the history and cultural associations of particular shades, dyes and pigments which will be released throughout the club. Take a look at these two pieces about indigo and yellow for a taster.
Will there be a KAL?
Yes! The Allover KAL will be hosted in our welcoming Ravelry group. You can expect lots of encouraging camaraderie as well as fabulous prizes for your finished projects! For those who do not use Ravelry, your finished projects can be submitted to the KAL by email.

Other considerations
A key aim of the Allover Club is to create a welcoming community: sharing knowledge, resources, and the joy of working with colour with knitters and readers all over the world. The club is intentionally reasonably priced, offering digital or print options (at tiered price structures). There are both Ravelry and non-Ravelry options for the delivery of club patterns and different participatory elements – a KAL and a club competition – of which club members can take advantage if they wish. And for those who do not wish to / cannot afford to join the club, but are interested in its themes, there will be a range of supporting content published on the KDD blog which will remain freely available to all.

Head on over to the KDD shop if you’d like to sign up for the club!
Hi could I ask if there’s a code needed for the 10% discount, I’m a Allover club member, or does it apply to the cost automatically. I’d like to purchase a kit. Regards Karen

I am sorry to bother you with such a question but when I want to pre order the club , at the beginning Paypal is mentionned as a way of payment but when I ordered and proceed to payment Paypal disappeared. This is my only way of payment from France and I am sad to have to renounce to this Club …

I signed up as soon as I got the email. I’m excited because I travelled to Shetland this summer and bought so much yarn for colorwork from J&S, Jamieson’s and Uradale (an extra suitcase full!). I’m sure I’ll be trying out some of your yarn as well during the club.

Can you please share information about the needed material? I’d like to check if my wool stack is high enough to stay in line with the weekly patterns….
Many thanks and greetings from North Germany

OK, you’ve convinced me! I have had no knitting mojo for much of this year, so wasn’t going to buy anything new, but perhaps these patterns will pull me out of the doldrums and get me knitting happily again!

Hi: I wondered if you could tell me a little more of what is included in the Allover Club. I am considering signing up but just would like a little more detail of what I would be getting.
Thank you so much.

This looks like a fun KAL. I am unable to work the link. Is it because I live in the USA?

we have club members from all over the world, Brenda – so nothing to do with your location? I’m not sure what’s not working . . .

The underlined text after the final graphic doesn’t function as a hyperlink and caused me a bit of consternation, too. However, the italicized links at the top of the post work correctly.

just to let you know that I did not receive a previous message about the Allover-club. I had the announcement in the beginning of september, and I think that was all. there is of course always the small possibility that I have missed it, but I don’t think so. I am glad you send the reminder!
